I never got the chance to write a proper farewell to the tens of thousands of loyal, readers of MetsBlog, the site I created from scratch roughly 20 years ago.
It’s probably for the best, though, because one blog post could never capture all I need to tell you about my journey. Here, however, during the next several months, I can let you in on all of it…
Most people know MetsBlog.com allowed me to meet countless, amazing people and experience all sorts of once-in-a-lifetime moments, all while creating in me a confidence, life and influence I never could have imagined.
However, while building and living the site was certainly exhilarating, it also unearthed my bipolar disorder, created a dependence on alcohol and nearly killed me.
Because to maintain its success, I lived life with a 24-hour news gun to my temple; it required middle-of-the-night thinking, nail biting and outwitting of New York media; fighting with reporters; scratching for sources and credibility; and methodically building a back entrance to an industry that refused to let me through the front door.
I will provide some writing through this newsletter, but most of the above storytelling and interviews will come to you here as links to clips on YouTube.
Later, I plan to roll out a subscription-based podcast that will give you full access to all content, every interview, unique Q&A sessions, and a group of well-known voices weighing in on current Mets topics.
Sign up below and guarantee you are notified each step of the way…
You have always been - and will always be - the best part of my near, 20-year journey and I am honored you have chosen to remain by my side… and, of course, Let’s Go Mets!!
